Is Rogers Shutting Down Shaw Email?
What's Happening and What You Need to Know
If you've tried visiting shaw.ca lately, you probably noticed it redirects straight to rogers.com. That's because Rogers Communications completed its acquisition of Shaw in April 2023, and by mid-2025 the Shaw website was fully shut down, the "My Shaw" app became "MyRogers (Shaw)," and all support pages moved under the Rogers domain. Understandably, a lot of @shaw.ca users are worried about what this means for their email.
The good news: Rogers has not announced any plans to shut down Shaw email for existing users. Your @shaw.ca address still works, webmail.shaw.ca is still accessible, and you can manage your account through MyRogers as before. However, Rogers has indicated that new Shaw email addresses can no longer be created, and the clear direction is toward full consolidation under the Rogers brand.
So while your inbox isn't disappearing tomorrow, it's fair to think about alternatives. Whether you're planning to migrate your emails away from Shaw or just need to set up your existing account in a new email client, you'll find the current Shaw email settings for IMAP, POP, and SMTP below.
How to Configure Your Shaw Email Address
Setting up your Shaw email account in an email client doesn't take long – you just need the right server settings for incoming and outgoing mail. Whether you're using Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, or a mobile app, the Shaw IMAP settings and SMTP configuration below will get your account connected.
If you're planning an email migration to or from Shaw, you'll also need these settings: MailJerry uses the same Shaw IMAP settings to move your messages between accounts.

| POP Server | pop.shaw.ca |
| POP Port | 995 |
| POP Security | SSL/TLS |
| Username | Your Shaw email address without (⚠️) @shaw.ca |
| Password | Your Shaw email password |
Should I Use IMAP or POP?
When you're setting up your Shaw email in an email client, you'll need to pick between IMAP and POP. For most people, IMAP is the better option.
IMAP keeps your inbox in sync across every device you use. So if you read a message on your phone, it shows up as read on your laptop too. Delete something on your tablet, and it's gone from webmail as well. This works because your emails stay on the Shaw server and each device just mirrors what's there. It's the most straightforward way to manage email if you check it from more than one place.
POP works differently. Instead of syncing, it downloads your messages to a single device and removes them from the server (unless you specifically tell it to leave copies behind). That can be useful if your Shaw mailbox is nearing its storage limit and you want to clear space, or if you prefer keeping a local archive on one computer. The downside is that emails downloaded via POP won't appear on your other devices, and if something happens to that one device without a backup, those messages are gone.
A quick tip: If you do go with POP, consider keeping a copy on the server for at least a few weeks. That way you still have a safety net in case something goes wrong on your end.
In short, go with IMAP if you use your Shaw email across multiple devices. Choose POP only if you work from a single computer and want full control over your local storage.
