How to Add Your Hetzner Email Address to Any Email Software
Given the many possible combinations of email protocol, email port and email encryption, it can be quite a guessing game to find the right combination for your Hetzner email account.

How to Access your Hetzner Hosted Email Address via IMAP, SMTP or POP3
When adding your email address to your email client, you usually need the current email settings for incoming emails (IMAP) and outgoing emails (SMTP). As an alternative to IMAP, you can also use POP3. Simply scroll down to find the current Hetzner email settings for your email address.

If you wish to use POP3 instead of IMAP, simply enter the following settings in the section for "incoming emails". But please be aware of the differences between POP3 and IMAP (see below).

POP3 or IMAP: What should I use for my Hetzner email?
When adding your Hetzner email address to your email client, you can use two email protocols: IMAP or POP3.
With IMAP, any changes made to your emails (e.g. deleting, reading, moving a message…) are synchronized across all devices you use to access your email. On the other hand, POP reflects changes only on the device where you initially downloaded the message to. IMAP keeps your message stored on your Hetzner server, while POP3 usually downloads the message and deletes it from the server. So, if you loose the device you downloaded your email to, with POP3, your message is lost, too.
In general, it's best to choose IMAP over POP as it allows you to access the same emails on multiple devices. However, if you run out of storage on your Hetzner webspace, you could consider useing POP3.
