If you wish to use POP3 instead of IMAP to add your Gmail email account to your email client, use the following gmail email settings for POP3:
POP3 Server | pop.gmail.com |
POP3 Port | 995 |
POP3 Security | TLS |
Username | username@gmail.com or username@your-domain.com |
Password | Your Gmail password |
When do I need to use POP3 instead of IMAP?
If you set up your Gmail email account using POP3, your emails will be downloaded from the server and stored on your device. This means that you can access your emails even when you're offline. Furthermore, you also save disk space and do not run out of storage capacity on your Gmail email account.
However, if you use multiple devices to access your Gmail email account, you'll only be able to access your emails on the device where you initially downloaded them. So if you wish to read your emails on multiple devices, IMAP is the better option.
