Currently.com: AT&T's Email Service Explained
Currently.com is an email domain provided by AT&T, one of the largest telecommunications companies in the United States. AT&T offers email accounts under multiple domain names – including @att.net, @bellsouth.net, @sbcglobal.net and @currently.com – but they all rely on the same AT&T mail server infrastructure. That's why your currently.com email address uses att.net servers for incoming and outgoing mail.
If you have an @currently.com email address, you may have noticed that the IMAP, SMTP and POP server settings all end with att.net – now you know why!
How to Set Up Your Currently.com Email Address
If you wish to add your currently.com email account to any email software (e.g. an email client or an email migration tool), simply select the desired protocols (in general: IMAP & SMTP) from the settings listed below.
⚠️ To be able to connect to the AT&T servers, you need to use a secure mail key, not your regular email account password. To create a secure mail key for currently.com, follow these instructions:

POP3 or IMAP: What Should I Use for My Currently.com Email?
In general, use IMAP instead of POP3. Here's why:
With IMAP, your emails remain stored on the AT&T mail servers, which lets you open the same email on multiple devices. Changes (read/unread status, deletions, folder moves) sync across all devices. If you lose your device, your emails are still on the server – no need for a local backup.
But are there any reasons to opt for POP3? There are two main scenarios that could make POP3 a favourable choice:
Since emails are downloaded to your device when using POP3, you can easily access your emails, even if you're offline. Furthermore, when running out of storage space in your currently.com account, POP3 can free up storage space, as emails download to your device and delete from the AT&T server.
⚠️ If you – for whatever reason – opt for POP3, make sure to have a backup of your local device! Otherwise, your emails would be lost if the device containing your emails is lost or broken.
