Comcast Email Settings versus Xfinity:
Which settings are right?
Comcast Cable is one of the biggest American telecommunications companies. Under the brand Xfinity, they provide cable television, broadband internet, and landline telephone.
Comcast Email is the former name of the Xfinity email service. Therefore, Comcast email settings are the same as Xfinity Email settings and vice verse. To set up your email account, use the IMAP, SMTP or POP3 settings below.

- Click on the Gear icon on the top right of your screen.

Comcast Email Settings: Incoming Emails via IMAP
Use the following Comcast email settings to add your Comcast email address to your email software using IMAP (recommended):
IMAP Server | imap.comcast.net |
IMAP Port | 993 |
IMAP Security | TLS or SSL |
Username | Your Comcast email address |
Password | Your Comcast password |
Comcast Email Settings: Outgoing Emails
To be able to also send emails via your Comcast address, you need to add the following Comcast email settings in your email client for outgoing emails:
SMTP Server | smtp.comcast.net |
SMTP Port | 465 |
SMTP Security | TLS or SSL |
Requires Authentication | ✅ |
Username | Your Comcast email address |
Password | Your Comcast password |
Comcast POP3 Email Settings
If you wish to use IMAP instead of POP3 to add your Comcast email account to your email client, use the following Comcast email settings for POP3:
POP Server | pop3.comcast.net |
POP Port | 995 |
POP Security | SSL |
Username | Your Comcast email address |
Password | Your Comcast password |
When do I need to use POP3 instead of IMAP?
If you set up your Comcast email account using POP3, your emails will be downloaded from the server and stored on your device. This means that you can access your emails even when you're offline. Furthermore, you also save disk space and do not run out of storage capacity on your Comcast email account.
However, if you use multiple devices to access your Comcast email account, you'll only be able to access your emails on the device where you initially downloaded them. So if you wish to read your emails on multiple devices, IMAP is the better option.
