How to Migrate Multiple Mailboxes at Once:

Prerequisites: What You’ll Need for the Batch Email Migration

To migrate multiple email accounts in a batch, you’ll need:

Providers with App Passwords:

If your email provider requires to use an app password for third-party access, generate an app password for every account and use it instead of the account password!

For Gmail, Yahoo! and iCloud, have a look at these tutorials:

Supported providers:

✅  all IMAP accounts, Gmail, Yahoo! & iCloud / Apple
ℹ️  This tutorial does not yet support Office 365 accounts. To migrate to Office 365, have a look at this tutorial.

Set Up the Bulk Email Migration:

1. Open MailJerry, click on “Settings” and add your license key.

2. Now click on “Bulk Migration”.

3. Enter the IMAP server addresses of your source and target mail server.
If you know that one of your servers uses non-standard ports or encryption methods, you can adjust the advanced settings. In most cases, we recommend to leave the advanced settings as is so that MailJerry can automatically evaluate to correct settings.

Bulk Email Migration: Add Source and Target Serve
This are the server addresses for the most common providers:
  • Gmail: imap.gmail.com
  • Yahoo!: export.imap.mail.yahoo.com
  • iCloud: imap.mail.me.com

For more providers, have a look at this list.

Now you can decide if you wish to directly input the credentials for the mailboxes you wish to migrate or if you prefer to use a  CSV file.

Method A: Add Mailboxes via Direct Input

For every mailbox you wish to include in the bulk migration, enter the following data:

1. the user name & (app) password of the source mailbox (= the one containing the emails)

2. the user name & (app) password for the target mailbox (= the one that should receive the emails)

3. optionally enable the mailbox sync or backup mode

Thank you so much for providing such an amazing tool. I was looking into doing this with another software that would've taken me forever to learn and do but with MailJerry, my email migration was a lot easier!"

Bulk Migration:Frequent Questions

I only need to use the bulk migration once. Do I need to purchase a yearly subscription?

Yes, the bulk migration is only available for customers with an active yearly subscription. If you need to use the bulk migration only once, you can purchase the yearly subscription and cancel it right away in the customer center to avoid recurring payments. After the cancellation, you can still use your license key for the rest of the time span.

I don’t want to purchase the yearly plan. How can I migrate my emails?

You can follow this tutorial to migrate one mailbox after the other without purchasing the yearly plan.

How many mailboxes can I migrate simultaneously?

When using the bulk migration, you can add an unlimited number of mailboxes to the batch. When starting the bulk migration, the data transfer for the first 20 mailboxes will start right away. All remaining mailboxes will be queued. As soon as one of the initial 20 mailbox migrations finished, the next in line will start automatically.

I want to migrate more than 20 mailboxes simultaneously. Is this possible?

You can add an unlimited number of mailboxes to your bulk migration, but only 20 of them will run simultaneously. The remaining mailboxes will be queued.

What happens to queued mailboxes? Do they start automatically?

Yes. As soon as one of the running mailbox migrations finishes, the next mailbox in line will start automatically.

Can I use the bulk migration to migrate from or to Microsoft / Office 365?

Since the bulk migration does not yet support OAuth2, this depends on the Microsoft account type you wish to use. For the bulk migration, it’s required to use Basic authentication, which was disabled by Microsoft for most accounts.

To check if your Microsoft account works with the bulk migration, create a single migration under “Migrations” using the IMAP preset and outlook.office365.com as mail server. If a connection is possible, you’ll be able to use the bulk feature as well. If not, please start your migrations from / to Office 365 by following this tutorial.

What’s the mailbox sync?

The mailbox sync helps to keep your mailboxes synced after the initial migration. When enabled, MailJerry will check your old account every three hours. If new emails are received in your old account, they will automatically be migrated to the new account. The mailbox sync can be used for a duration of 10 days. If you wish to permanently keep your accounts synced, use the backup mode instead.

What’s the backup mode?

Like the mailbox sync, the backup mode regularly checks your old account for new emails and migrates them to the new source mailbox. You can choose between a daily, weekly or monthly interval. In contrast to the mailbox sync, you can use the backup mode for an indefinite amount of time.

I want to set the backup mode for every mailbox individually. Is this possible?

Yes. After your bulk migration finished, go to “Overview”, open your bulk migration and click on the mailbox you wish to enable or change the backup mode for. On the details page, click on “Backup Mode” and set the desired interval.
