POP3 or IMAP: Which protocol should you use for your BOL Mail email?
When configuring your BOL Mail email, you can choose between IMAP and POP to receive emails. Here's the difference:
With IMAP, any changes made to your emails (such as deletions or marking them as read) are synchronized across all devices you use to access your email. On the other hand, POP reflects changes only on the device where you initially downloaded the messages.
In general, it's advisable to choose IMAP over POP as it allows you to access the same emails on multiple devices. However, if you have a large mailbox and need to save some storage, POP might be the better option. With POP, emails are downloaded to your device, freeing up storage space in your mailbox. But be aware that you need to back up your device regularly, as emails are generally no longer stored on the mail server and are therefore lost if you loose the device you downloaded your emails to.
